Mission: The African Journal of Research in Medical and Health Sciences (AJRMHS) is an international peer-reviewed multidisciplinary medical journal. The AJRMHS is a publication of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria, Rivers State Government Hospitals Chapter, which intends to promote its clinical advancement and educational objectives. The AJRMHS aims to contribute to the advancement of medical science, healthcare delivery and health systems development and translational research, particularly in the developing world.

Scope

The AJRMHS publishes scientific reports that seek to advance medical and health science. The Journal accepts manuscripts in all fields of medicine, including basic medical, nursing, basic clinical (Anatomical Pathology, Chemical pathology, Haematology, Medical Microbiology, Pharmacology) and clinical sciences (Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Psychiatry, Public Health, Dental and Maxillofacial surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT), health management and healthcare financing. The journal publishes scientific reports in the form of original research articles, case series and reports, letters to the Editor, Systematic or Narrative Reviews, short commentaries, consensus reports, special articles, practice materials and book reviews.

 

Affiliation of the journal

The AJRMHS is the official publication of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, Rivers State Government Hospitals (RSGHs). The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria [MDCAN], an affiliate of Nigerian Medical Association is the largest specialist medical association in the West African sub-region with over 2,000 members with diverse medical and surgical specializations serving in primary, secondary, tertiary and specialist hospitals and tertiary academic institutions across Nigeria.

Policy decisions are made by the Association's National Executive Council (NEC) which is the governing body. Statutorily, any medical or dental practitioner registered under the Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Act CAP 221 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (1990) and as subsequently amended, who has completed recognized Residency training and been appointed a Consultant in RSGHs has a right of membership. The local executive of the chapter is its governing body and has full powers to act on its behalf.
